Aug 20 (Reuters) – Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis President Alberto Musalem, who favored an interest rate hike at the central bank’s July policy meeting, said on CNBC Thursday that he’s keeping his options open about what sort of action he thinks officials will need to take when they meet again next month.
Although he still considers it more likely that inflation will stay above target and argued that rate hikes now could save the Fed from more aggressive action in the future to deal with inflation, he said what he’ll recommend next month “depends” on the data and “I want to maintain an open mind into every meeting.”
