Sheboygan Police
Sheboygan Police have released more details on last Sunday’s reckless driving incident, revealing several felony charges against an already-known violator.
On Sunday officers were tipped off to frequent disorderly driving near 8th and Indiana Avenue, and while patrolling, observed a suspect revving his engine and backfiring and tried to stop him. That driver fled and eventually crashed, injuring a 73-year-old Sheboygan man.
The 19-year-old behind the wheel now faces felony charges of Fleeing and Eluding along with 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety. Along with those were another eight municipal traffic and ordinance tickets. Combined with past offenses, that driver has now tallied a total of 33 traffic-related citations from Sheboygan Police over the past 13 months.
In a word to others that may do the same, the SPD said that such reckless driving, engine revving and loud exhaust that endanger others and contribute to neighborhood disorder are taken seriously, and they will strictly enforce laws against them.
