Those attending Saturday’s Independence Day celebration – known as Freedom Fest – will be treated to the thrill of a flyover by an F-35A Fighter Aircraft, one of the most advanced fighter jets ever put into defense of the nation. The event is a rare opportunity to witness the jets usually heard only during exercises miles overhead, but now making this low-altitude pass in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The public affairs officer for the 115th Fighter Wing, based out of Truax Field in Madison, said that “Since its establishment in 1948, the 115th Fighter Wing has played a key role in the continued independence commitment to the American people and the local communities we support.”
Sheboygan’s Independence Day celebrations include a parade at 9 AM and a fireworks show at 9:30 PM, with the F-35A flyover near Deland Park serving as one of the events’ highlights.
Mayor Ryan Sorenson noted that “This flyover adds a remarkable moment of pride and reflection to our Fourth of July festivities.
