Sheboygan Police
Sheboygan police have arrested three teenagers in connection with a string of car thefts that have been happening around the city since mid-August.
Police say 10 vehicles have been stolen, and five more thefts were attempted. The thieves were mainly targeting Kias and Hyundais. Some of those stolen cars were later involved in reckless driving and hit-and-run crashes.
Investigators say video and other evidence helped them track down the three teens, who eventually admitted to their involvement. A fourth teenager was also arrested Sunday morning after allegedly driving a stolen car from Plymouth and leading police on a short chase.
Police say the investigation is still underway. They’re also reminding Kia and Hyundai owners with vehicles made between 2011 and 2022 to check with their dealership about software updates and extra anti-theft protection. And, as always, lock your car, don’t leave your keys or valuables inside, and try to park in a well-lit area, whenever possible.
