Oct 24 (Field Level Media) – Orlando Magic star forward Paolo Banchero is nursing a low-grade high-ankle sprain, the team announced Saturday.
The Magic did not disclose a recovery timetable, with ESPN reporting the injury diagnosis typically carries a timetable of four-to-six weeks.
Banchero sustained the injury during the third quarter of the Magic’s 115-93 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.
“Most of all my ankle sprains have always been to the outside, so this is kind of foreign to me,” Banchero told the Orlando Sentinel. “So a little scary in that way.”
Banchero, 23, has averaged 24.5 points, 7.5 assists and 6.5 rebounds in two games (both starts) this season.
The former No. 1 overall draft pick in 2022 has averaged 22.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 272 games (all starts) in five seasons for Orlando.
