Brewers win their 4th straight NL Central title in RUNAWAY fashion. Never gets old!

(I’m a little sad we didn’t get another fake Bob Uecker letter, anyway roll more beautiful bean footage!)

A few things in no particular order:

• William Contreras LIVED in the principal’s office in school. Not a doubt in my mind.
• Sal Frelick is a menace in these playoff celebrations. He’s a more in shape Bluto from Animal House. Crushing beers, putting cigars out on people, I can’t imagine the state of that dude’s hotel room right now. Agent of chaos.
• I have the betting odds of Daniel Vogelbach being the drunkest reveler at -1000.

I know for a portion of the fanbase that is probably 25 years old and younger, this is starting to feel routine. Four straight division titles, 5 of the last 6, playoffs every single year since 2018 with the exception of the great collapse of 2022. It feels like every single year, around this time, we’re watching the Brewers pop bottles in a locker room.

But make no mistake, there is NOTHING routine about this. For most of my life, the idea that this franchise would routinely be in the playoffs, let alone a perennial division title winner, was a fantasy. I watched SO much bad baseball from 1993-2005. 100-loss seasons, managers getting fired, Ruben Quevedo starting games, Wendy Selig-Prieb, it was an absolute abomination. The only good thing about that era was that you could find tickets to their home games for a buffalo nickel.

So I will not take ANY of this for granted. The celebrations, the champagne, the merch, I want it all and I want it every single year. Could heartbreak be looming? Sure. But make no mistake about it, we are living in the greatest era of Brewer baseball. What they’re accomplishing, HOW they are accomplishing it, and WHO they are beating in the division year in and year out? Never gets old!

PS: “0 championships.” That will be a common refrain among Cubs fans. Never seen a fanbase take a longer victory lap after winning ONE title in 118 years. By that math the Brewers have until 2088 to match their pace.
