The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reminds boaters that lakes and rivers are expected to be crowded this Labor Day weekend. This as DNR Wardens have investigated 21 fatal boating incidents so far this year, and in most cases, victims were not wearing life jackets.
Boat operators and passengers should wear Coast Guard-approved life jackets, stay sober, obey boating laws, and avoid distractions on the water. It’s also recommended to check safety equipment before heading out and letting someone know your plans before leaving the dock.
