The Sheboygan Police Department reports responding to two more e-bike accidents on Sunday. In one case, according to social media reports, a male teen riding an e-bike struck a utility pole on North 16th street and was coughing up blood. In both cases, the SPD said the accidents involved illegal e-motos, which are e-bikes without pedals, making them completely motorized. Such bikes aren’t allowed on sidewalks, trails or public roads, and are only legal as off-road dirt-bikes.
Sheboygan Police cited Wisconsin statutes that say that an adult that knowingly permits a child or ward under 18 years of age to operate a motor vehicle upon any highway can be fined up to $100 dollars.
