The Sheboygan Plan Commission is hosting a public hearing on Wednesday, August 26th, to discuss the proposed expansion of Sheboygan’s downtown tax incremental district 21. If approved, it would add territory downtown as well as along the riverfront.
Meanwhile—the group that collected more than 2000 signatures in an effort to bring a proposal to the Common Council that would require voter approval for certain TID projects has failed to collect enough valid signatures. The group spent weeks collecting the 2599 signatures required, only to be told they were short by 49 signatures. The group filed an emergency petition in court, which has been struck down. There’s no word on whether the group plans to appeal.
