Sheboygan County can consider itself fortunate given the potential for severe weather on Monday. While warnings were issued here based upon storms pummeling areas upstream, little materialized within Sheboygan County. But there were areas much less fortunate.
Among those areas is Appleton, where widespread tornado destruction was seen on videos posted from the scene, with numerous buildings appearing to be completely destroyed. Reports were scarce at the time of this posting, but the Winnebago County Department of Emergency Government was quick to set up emergency shelters for those who were displaced.
Storms spent most of their energy, but not all of their rain by the time they moved through Sheboygan County. The most significant effect here was the one-half to inch-and-a-half of rain that fell in most of the county, a badly needed drink during a very dry July.
