Alerts for severe weather were already being issued by the National Weather Service as activity begins to respond to the abundant moisture and an energy-charged atmosphere over Wisconsin. A flood watch was issued at 11 AM to be in effect until 11 PM tonight due to several rounds of thunderstorms expected to move through southern Wisconsin, including Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, Washington and Ozaukee Counties among others. Also included is Dodge County which was hit hard by Wednesday’s storms, and emergency crews there were rushing to help people gather belongings from already-damaged homes before the first round of storms arrives.
Storms occurring early this afternoon are not the main event; that will still be expected to pass through between 6 and 9 PM, with concerns centered mainly upon high winds and hail, and the outside chance of tornadoes.
More updates will be issued during the afternoon.
