The Sheboygan County Sheriff is urging drivers to exercise caution now that many rural roads are in use by large farm equipment during the planting season.
The Sheriff’s Office noted that farm machinery often travels at much slower speeds than other vehicles, may take up more than one lane, and requires extra room to make turns into fields and driveways. The Wisconsin State Patrol also agrees with that message, noting that in 2024 alone there were 429 crashes involving farm vehicles, while also asserting that it is unlawful in Wisconsin to pass an agricultural vehicle in a no-passing zone.
The Sheriff concluded by saying that a few extra moments of patience can prevent a serious crash and help keep our farmers, motorists, and families safe.
