One person lost their life in a head-on crash just north of the City of Cedarburg early Thursday afternoon. Just past 1:15 PM, the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash on County Road “I”, just over a mile north of the city limits.
The initial findings determined that a southbound Dodge Ram pickup truck drifted over the centerline and struck the school bus head-on. Both vehicles came to rest in the northbound lane. There were no students on the bus at the time.
The bus driver, 71-year-old Deda Odekirk-Schuh of Saukville, sustained minor injuries and was taken for treatment to a local hospital. The other driver, a 57-year-old West Bend man, was pinned inside the vehicle, requiring extrication and, despite immediate lifesaving efforts, he was declared deceased at the scene.
County Road I was expected to remain closed for several hours during crash reconstruction.
