The question of “How are you going to keep them on the farm…” might never have been more appropriate. The numbers involved in Wisconsin’s number-one industry have been declining as the landscape of farming changes, but a regional cooperative hopes to make it easier for young people to pursue a career, whether that’s in agriculture or another field.
Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative is again offering $10,000 worth of secondary education scholarships to the children of its members who exemplify the voice of milk through their education, career aspirations and future goals.
Two $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to current students pursuing a degree in a four—or two-year program, and three $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors.
There are several qualifications that need to be met, but an agriculture-related course of study isn’t among them. Full application guidelines can be found on the Edge website.
