Let’s start at the start, this is what Davante had to say last week about moving from Aaron Rodgers to Derek Carr:
"Any time you change QBs from hall-of-famer to hall-of-famer it's going to be a little bit of an adjustment."

Derek Carr a Hall of Famer?? BAHAHAHAHAHA.

‘Davante told a very funny joke today, I laughed at it later that night!’
Look is Derek Carr a decent quarterback? Sure. He’s in the Hall of Pretty Good. Maybe he’ll be in the Hall of Good with Davante. But to say that with a straight face was laugh out loud funny. I assume there has to be a little tongue-in-cheek from Davante there, and what else is he going to say about his new quarterback/long time friend, but holy moly.
So cut to yesterday, after the first practice of training camp, Rodgers was asked about going to Davante as his #1 receiver to (likely) Allen Lazard:

“I mean it’s always tough going from Hall of Famer to Hall of Famer. From Davante to Allen, it’s gonna be a transition, but he’s capable of a lot.” pic.twitter.com/pBveMG5Qqh
Well played A-aron. Well played indeed!
Now this was definitely a joke, but if I’m reading his body language correctly, Rodgers is just a little serious here. He smirks after he says it, but it’s not a wide grin where he’s say, ‘see what I did there?? Wacka wacka!’
All indications are/were that Rodgers and Davante were friends during their time in Green Bay, and probably still are despite Davante leaving on his own volition. But one thing we actually do still know about Aaron is this: He’s a grudge guy. He’s a chip on his shoulder guy. So yeah, he probably laughed at the quote Davante put out there, but he’s also putting it squarely on his right arm. If you don’t think Rodgers is thinking, ‘oh, you think I can’t put up MVP numbers with Allen Lazard as my #1? Watch this,’ then I don’t know what to tell you.
Long story long: If Lazard is healthy, I fully expect Rodgers to get him the ball with a purpose. Fantasy green arrow WAY up. Draft Lazard around the 4th/5th round and laugh your way to an 80 catch, 1,250 yard, 10 touchdown season.
PS: This is my last blog until Monday, August 8th. Linds and I are headed to Boston tomorrow for Brewers/Red Sox at Fenway, then on to Portland, Maine, then to Acadia National Park. When I return it will be a Packer football week and Juan Soto will be a Brewer. Feels good!
