Ladies and Germs, I present to you my favorite Facebook related story in a LONG, long time. Let me introduce you to the legend of Linda Skeens. Linda entered just about every cooking/baking/crafting competition at the Virginia Kentucky District Fair in early June. How did she fair (golf swing)? Prettaayyyy prettaayyy good:
Sweet sassy molassy! Linda Skeens came to the district fair to win awards and chew bubble gum, and she’s all out of bubble gum. Just about the most dominant performance these eyes have seen in any competition. Could Linda Skeens beat the ’96 Bulls? Anything seems possible.
Now the best part of this story is that it organically went viral on Facebook and the comment section is an all timer. It’s kind of hard to share a Facebook post but here were some of my favorite memes that were generated in honor of Linda Skeens’ Fair dominance:
These are GOLD. When the internet rallies behind a story like this, there’s nothing better.
The other part of this story that is so compelling is that Linda Skeens has ZERO social media presence. I guess there’s only so much time in the day and Linda is busy baking up award winning pies for 2023. But the fact that no one has been able to find a picture of this lady has made it all the more mysterious. And if you peruse the Virginia Kentucky District Fair Facebook page, you can figure out pretty quickly that none of this is contrived. It checks all the boxes. Dominance, mystery/intrigue, wholesome, memes, pies. It is the rare story that everyone can like in 2022. Did Linda Skeens do it again or did Linda Skeens do it again (she did it again).
PS: Don’t want, NEED Linda Skeens on the next season of, ‘The Great British Baking Show.’ The world needs a Linda Skeens/Paul Hollywood confrontation. You think Paul Hollywood is going to be doling out handshakes just because Linda Skeens put a beatdown on her competition at a district fair?? For sure NOT.
