Aaron Rodgers on what prompted him to yell what he did after his rushing TD: “Sometimes you black out. In a good way. I’ve definitely blacked out from a concussion, which isn’t a good way.”

Sweet sassy molassy. Mainline this directly into my bloodstream. I believe the youths would call this kind of trash talk, ‘savage.’ What a line! Scampering in for the game sealing touchdown, getting ready to improve to 22-5 in his career against the Bears, at their place, and he makes sure they know that he knows how dominant the Packers have been against Chicago during his era. Unreal.
And the audio might be hard to hear in the subsequent tweet posted above, but Rodgers said that the inspiration for those words game from a lady in the front row giving him the Stone Cold two-finger salute when he looked up at the crowd. I have to admit: That type of behavior from a Bears fan is both shocking and unexpected. Bears fans are fans of culture. Refined. Their politeness is matched only by their reverence to the game and it’s (1985) history. I am certain that the woman doling out the double bird to Aaron does not depict their fan base as a whole.
- I think 95% of people that care about football/this game were entertained by Rodgers’ trash talk, but you just knew the 5% would be out IN FORCE on Twitter and Facebook. ‘Classless!’ ‘Arrogant (eggplant emoji)!’ You just know noted Aaron Rodgers hater, Mike Florio, is set to pen an article on Pro Football Talk this morning that will beg the NFL to ‘do something’ about Rodgers taunting it’s customers.
- The play design on the first touchdown of the game to Allen Lazard was *CHEF’S KISS*. Fake the jet sweep pitch to Aaron Jones and flip it to Lazard right behind him. The only shame of it is that it feels like the type of play you can only use once in a season.
- The Bears had one of the top run defenses in the league coming into the game, and the Packer ground game sashayed their way to 150 yards on 31 carries, 5.0 yards per carry. The offensive line got heathier with Myers and Jenkins coming back, although Myers went down and did not return. It doesn’t sound as though it’s going to be a season ending injury for him, so that’s a positive. But if/when they can get Myers back, and add Bakhtiari to the mix, if Jones and Dillon stay healthy, that is going to be FORMIDABLE in the late months of the season.
- ^Related: Aaron Jones casually passed Paul Hornung for 9th all time on the Packer career rushing yards list. He’s 26 years old. Again, health permitting, Jones could be breaking a LOT of Packer records during the course of his new contract extension.
- Issac Yiadom got the start at corner opposite Eric Stokes and he got TORCHED on the Bears’ first possession. We’re talking PTSD about Ahmad Carrol torched. Biggest call of the day might have been benching him and replacing him Rasul Douglas for the rest of the afternoon.
- Dean Lowry has been playing his ass off on the defensive line. Really nice game from him.
- It’s a shame Kenny Clark plays in the scheme that he does, because in a different system he might be Warren Sapp 2.0. When he is allowed to just pin his ears back and get after the quarterback he’s one of the best interior linemen in the league.
- It ended in a touchback but Corey Bojorquez punted a football 82 yards yesterday. 82 yards. I’ve never heard of such a thing.
- Great to see Mason Crosby clean on all four kicks yesterday. After a week like last week, there had to be at least some concern of him missing another one yesterday. Then it becomes a ‘thing.’ 1/1 on field goals and 3/3 on XP’s keeps that at bay.
- I honestly think Justin Fields is going to be a good quarterback, but Matt Nagy has got to go if you’re a Bears fan. If you’re a Packers fan, sign Nagy to a 10 year extension today. Hell, make it a lifetime deal! But once they get a more innovative offensive mind as their head coach, that’s going to open things up for him.
- ^There I said something nice about the Bears.
Well we said a few weeks ago that the Packers were entering a stretch of three very winnable games: At Cincy, at Chicago, and home against WFT. Because of what the schedule looks like after that, you wanted to get all three. Two up, two down, with a beaten up 2-4 Washington Football Team coming to Lambeau on Sunday. Keep checking those boxes and trying to get healthy, this team’s goals are long term and you just want to be in a good position by December.
PS: Aaron Rodgers also hinted in his post game presser that he, ‘doesn’t believe that was his last game at Soldier Field.’ Now whether that means he’ll be back as a player next year, or in the Owner’s Suite, who knows. But it was certainly less ambiguous than he normally is about looking to next season.
