Packer Sea Shanty going viral on Tik Tok.

First things first: I’ve been in the blog game for a LONG time. David at the Dentist long. Leroy Jenkins long. Hastily Made Cleveland Tourism Video long. But even in my earliest years on the internet, I would never have guessed I would type what I just typed in the ‘title’ section of this blog. ‘Packer Sea Shanty going viral on Tik Tok.’ Say what now?

Anyway, I haven’t taken the dive into Tik Tok yet because I’m scared of what it is and the people on it, but apparently ‘Sea Shanties’ have become a thing lately. Just a bunch of youth’s singing about their days at port drinking rye and shucking oysters. Kind of random but pretty enjoyable.

Well that has led to the above video. Joseph Salvo with an absolute JAM of a Packer Sea Shanty. Hang the lyrics in the Louvre next to ‘Let It Be’ and ‘Imagine.’ I plan on playing early and often on Friday’s morning show. You’ve been warned.

Related: I am a BALL of nervous energy anticipating this game on Sunday. This is as confident in a Packer team as I’ve been in a long time. I’m talking 1996 heading into the Panther NFC Championship game confident. Obviously anything can happen (emotional hedging), but if this team doesn’t turn the ball over, they’re winning this game. When they lost by 28 in Tampa earlier in the year, it was turnovers that did them in. When New Orleans lost to Tampa last weekend, it was turnovers that did them in (21 points on 3 turnovers). Clearly that’s a focus for a ballhawking Tampa defense, but like we said last week, Aaron Rodgers is on another level right now. It’s impossible to think that he’d throw not one, but TWO interceptions (one a pick-6, the other nearly a pick-6) like he did in Tampa back in October. And that’s how that whole game changed. Remember, before that pick-6 the Packers were up 10-0 and had the ball threatening to go up three scores. It looked like it was going to be a 38-10 route in favor of the Packers. But those turnovers flipped the field/game. I just can’t envision that happening on Sunday. Packers win 31-23.

PS: Speaking of a good Sea Shanty, I’ve seen plenty of Tik Tok-ers are singing along with a song we play every Friday at 8am on B93: The Scotsman. It took us 12 years but we finally backed our way into something we do on the air being cool!

Double PS: With the COVID roster rules, the Packer had Tramon Williams in for a visit yesterday. Williams was cut by Baltimore immediately following their loss in Buffalo last weekend. If you watched any of his limited time as a Raven, it’s pretty clear he’s a step slower. But you can’t underestimate championship game experience and veteran savvy, which he has in spades. I also don’t hate the idea of him returning punts like he had many times during his two tours in Green Bay. Never a game-breaker, but ALWAYS had ball security.
