Live look at the official Milwaukee Bucks Facebook page comment section reacting to the fact that they are only posting Khris Middleton’s jersey and not Giannis’s:
DON’T READ INTO EVERYTHING. I’m sure the fact that they didn’t post a Giannis version of the new City Edition jerseys is NOT a signal that Giannis isn’t signing the Super Max before the season starts. Even if he doesn’t sign the Super Max (he will), he is still going to be playing for the Bucks this season, and thus will be wearing this jersey at some point between now and April. Again: this jersey reveal has nothing to do with whether or not Giannis will remain a Buck for the next 5 years. Thank you for your time.
Related: I don’t hate these jerseys, but I would rank them last in my City Edition Jersey Power Rankings. My favorite is still this version from a few years back:
And then I like this one from last year, very similar to the above version:
And I think I actually like the Mecca version better than this year’s as well:
What I do enjoy about the ‘Great Lakes’ edition is how close the colors are to the old Hornets colors:
So they’ve got that going for them, which is nice.
PS: Jackie MacMullen, who I would file under the ‘people I trust’ folder, said last week that according to her sources, Giannis is going to sign the Super Max. I think most people seem to feel that way, but the way the Bogdan Bogdanovic deal went down a few weeks ago, it left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth. Who knows if it was even the Bucks’ mistake that cost them that sign and trade, but when we thought that both Jrue Holiday AND Bogdan were coming, most fans felt 99.9% sure that Giannis would sign. Now it might be more in the 80% range. And when you factor in the, ‘being a Bucks fan and expecting the worst’ portion of the algorithm, it might be more like 50%. But the bottom line is, even without Bogdan, the current Bucks roster is better than it was last season. What that means in terms of playoff success in May? Who knows. But this team is better now that it was last season, and the season before that. If that’s what Giannis is looking for, I think he puts his Herbie Hancock on that deal before December 22nd.
Double PS: I’ve never understood why the Bucks don’t embrace the hunting culture in Wisconsin and do a blaze orange version of their jersey. But, I did stumble upon this spec while looking for pictures for this blog, how about a High Life version:
BADASS.
