Jesus GOD. That footage is absolutely wild. We almost had a real life Jonah and The Whale situation play out. Clearly a bait box popped up right next to their kayak and they nearly got swallowed whole. Just unfortunate placement for the kayaks, and I’m guessing for the whale as well. My man thought he was going to grab a mouthful of krill and got a human in his/her food. I would think that’s the whale equivalent to a human being finding something gross in their food. Like that poor schmuck a few years back that found a snake head in his can of green beans.
Anyway, Lindsey and I have been amateur kayakers for a the last 5 years now, but the worst thing we’ve ever experienced was low water. I also ran out of beer once on one of our longer voyages. But that’s small potatoes compared to this. Luckily everyone involved was okay. I would venture a guess that they haven’t slept since this went down. The adrenaline pumping through your veins after nearly getting swallowed by a whale has to be something.
PS: There are rumors that the old MTV show, ‘Jackass,’ is going to be making a comeback. This has that show written all over it. Just send one of those guys out on a kayak and release random bait boxes around them. ‘Hi, I’m Johnny Knoxville. And this is Swallowed.’
Double PS: Spin zone: If they did get swallowed, living in this whale’s stomach has to be WAY more cost effective than paying $2,500 a month for a studio apartment.
