So changing brand names and tearing down statues is REAL hot in the streets right now. People and places and trying to distance themselves from historical figures that had suspect personal lives outside of their national/global impact (for better or worse).
I feel a TON of it is way over the top, some of it probably makes some sense, but regardless, it's happening.
Now I'm certain that some will roll their eyes at the state capital of Ohio, Columbus, trying to get some space between themselves and Christopher Columbus, and contemplating changing the name of the city. Again, seems like a bit of an overreaction, but also Christopher Columbus by all accounts was an awful human being with a proclivity for getting lost. So there's that, too.
In any case, the second I heard what the clubhouse leader was to replace the name, 'Columbus,' I was fully on board. The city could change it's name to Flavortown, Ohio. Apparently noted chef, and great American, Guy Fieri, is a Columus native. He is also universally beloved by anyone with a pulse, and is ten times the person that Columbus ever was. This is an absolute no brainer and is so clearly a change for the better, I can't imagine anyone being opposed to it. Rarely is the internet a great unifier, but if anyone can do it, it's the Fieri/Flavortown brand.
PS: I came across this video a few years back and it still makes me laugh today. Guy Fieri at some Lean Packet promo stop, just jamming out and tossing calorie conscious frozen dinners to a hungry crowd. America.
Double PS: I realize Louis CK is persona non grata but this is a perfect stand up bit for the Columbus portion of this blog:
