Brewers with an all time comeback win against the Cubs and our guy Mbone posted his masterpiece last night.

October baseball in September. An ALL TIMER last night at Am Fam. Before we go through some of the moments, how about this Brewers/Cubs rivalry. I know it’s easy to say form our perspective as Brewer fans because we’ve had the better of it for the last decade, but these two teams almost ALWAYS play entertaining games. In a world where rivalry matchups rarely live up to the hype, it feels like 9 times out of 10 these two squads play an incredible baseball game.

Now, let’s talk about some moments in no particular order:

• Great bounce back for The Miz last night. The crazy thing is, his performance is almost an afterthought given everything that happened in the 9th and 10 innings. But 6.1 innings, 1 run, 9 strikeouts, and his stuff was ZIPPING. 100 mph+ pretty consistently. Great to see.
• Trevor Megill just didn’t seem to have it. He gave up a homer on Monday as well, but keep in mind, this guy has been SPARKLING since a few blips in April. He was probably due to give up a few runs. Also keep in mind, in that 9th inning, he should have had a strikeout on the batter before Carson Kelly hit that 2-RBI double. But, once again, the Brewers blew threw challenges and didn’t have one to use. That changes the dynamic of that inning. Also: That Carson Kelly bat was incredible. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap.
• Underrated moment #1: DL Hall comes into the game in that 9th inning with PCA up, a runner on 3rd, and only 1 out. He strikes out PCA and doesn’t allow another run. Keeping that game at 3-1 was obviously huge because none of what happened in the bottom of the 9th matters if you’re down 4-1, not 3-1.
• Underrated moment #2: Christian Yelich. 2 outs, nobody on, in an 0-2 count as a pinch hitter. Battles back to a full count and rips a single to right field. The team looked dead and he battled back.
• Jackson. Bleeping. Chourio. Look at this guy striding to the plate after the Yeli single:

• I love that Brian Anderson picked up on Chourio’s confidence heading to the plate. This kid has a little Ryan Braun flare for the dramatic in him. He then proceeds to OBLITERATE a ball for a game-tying home run. I love this angle of it because you see Nico Hoerner’s body just sink the second contact is made. Literally no doubt it was gone.

• Underrated Moment #3: Garrett Mitchell throwing an absolute SEED to nail Seiya Suzuki as the ghost runner trying to advance from 2nd to 3rd. A MISSLE. That allows DL Hall to put up a zero in the top of the 10th.
• Then, we get something I’ve never seen before. A manager walking out to the on deck circle to pump up a batter who is about to hit with the bases loaded and 1-out in a tie game. Lara had a MISERABLE game before that. Stupid challenge that cost the team, and struck out with the bases loaded and 2-outs in the 8th inning.

• What happens next? Lara rips a walkoff single on the first pitch he sees. Incredible. Pat Murphy does a lot of things well, but THAT is what he does the best.

One of the best regular season wins I’ve ever seen. And the Brewers TV broadcast having a camera TRAINED on Craig in the dugout as his team puked it up was cinema as well. Some might say, “Jon, it’s time to move on. Craig’s been gone for three years, the Brewers are going to win their third straight division title, they beat them in the playoffs last year, it’s petty at this point.” Fair argument. It is petty. But here’s the thing about me: I can be petty. Spread it on!

PS: I’m sure the voters will overthink it and probably also have ‘voter fatigue,’ but if Murphy doesn’t win a 3rd straight Manager of the Year award it is a CRIME.

Double PS: The division is a wrap, but the Cubs better watch their ass in that Wild Card race. They’re now the #2 WC, and the Diamondbacks and Padres are only 3 games behind them.
