INCREDIBLE content coming out of last night’s “Pope Night” at the White Sox game. I was almost whisked back to the Spring of 2025 and the Papal Conclave!
As many of you know, Pope Leo, the Real American Pope, is a White Sox fan. Here he is at a 2005 World Series game:
Absolutely wild to me that the man in charge of the entire Catholic faith once had strong opinions about Jermaine Dye.
So last night the White Sox honored Pope Leo by doing a “Pope Hat” giveaway:
They even had a nun wearing a “SOUTHSIDE” jersey throw out the first pitch!
And they also had the 5th inning “Sign of Peace” in the video attached to the beginning of this word salad. I think they should have gone even further. Instead of the 7th inning stretch? 7th inning communion. Mumble your way through the Nicene Creed in the 8th inning. Our Father in the 9th. And of course, announcements after the conclusion of the game.
All is all it looked like one of the better promo-nights that any team has put on in the last decade or so. If they win the division and host a playoff game, could you imagine if they get Pope Leo to throw out the first pitch?? The Knights Templar have to come to Comiskey to protect the Pope?? Amazing.
PS: I wonder how many people got exposed last night when someone said, “peace be with you,” and they responded with, “and also with you.” It’s, “and with your spirit,” now. Keep up to date on your encyclical you heathens!!
