NWS Says Menasha Tornado was EF-3

The National Weather Service says it was an EF 3tornado that hit Menasha on Monday with winds reaching as high as 140 miles per hour. National Weather Service surveyors say that the tornado initially touched down in Appleton around noon, producing EF 2 category winds. But it gained strength before entering Menasha. From there it headed south, beforedissipating over Lake Winnebago.

In all, that tornado lasted 26 minutes and traveled a total of 12.1 miles before dissipating.

While Sheboygan was at risk for severe storms at the time, we were very fortunate, seeing only a much-needed rain.
