Thunderstorms didn’t arrive until well after midnight and they weren’t severe, but National Weather Service forecasters are keeping up their guard as a 3-out-of-5 risk of high winds, hail, heavy rain and even a spin-up tornado or two are still possible today.

Development is expected to move down from the northwoods and affect the Sheboygan area before noon, with another round possible this afternoon into the nighttime hours as a cold front moves through, displacing the hot, humid air that prompted heat advisories today as close as Dodge and Jefferson Counties. The strength of thunderstorms later today will be affected by the first round and whether any subsequent sun has time to recharge the atmosphere, and later forecasts should be monitored.
