Fond du Lac County officials say that there’s reason to believe that progress is being made in the disappearance of Robert “Bobby Jo” Fritz on may 14, 1983. The then 6-year-old boy was last seen playing outside with his siblings in the Village of Campbellsport, and his disappearance has since been classified by the Clearinghouse for Missing & Exploited Children & Adults as a “Nonfamily Abduction”.
On Thursday, July 16, 2026, Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office detectives executed a search warrant related to the case at the Village of Campbellsport home where Bobby Jo lived in at the time of his disappearance. The search produced evidence related to the case, and now a larger-scale excavation is underway in the basement of the home.
Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt said that his office is dedicated to uncovering the facts surrounding Bobby Jo’s disappearance, and the investigation remains active. Additional information will be released only at such time that it does not compromise case integrity.
Meanwhile, anyone with information that could help the investigation is encouraged to contact Detective Tyler Tikkanen at 920-929-3384, or leave anonymous information on the Fond du Lac County Tip Line at 9200-906-4777.
