Those in this area looking to stay in the Great Lakes region when they retire have an excellent choice right here in Sheboygan. That’s according to the online publication World Atlas, which included one other Wisconsin City – Ashland – in its list of of the 10 Best Places to Retire in states stretching from Minnesota to New York.
The article – available here – praises Sheboygan’s balance of small-city convenience and big-lake charm, noting such features as easy waterfront access, a thriving arts and culture scene, and a cost of living that continues drawing in new residents. The city’s arts, active transportation, parks, housing options and social programs were included among the many factors in Sheboygan’s inclusion.
Mayor Ryan Sorenson said the recognition shows that a deep sense of community spirit has arisen in a place where people look out for one another, adding that “Our commitment to creating a safe, vibrant, and welcoming city, whether you’re raising a family or enjoying retirement, continues to be reflected.”
