*OLD MAN YELLS AT CLOUD BLOG INCOMING”

I hate this. I hate what NFL scheduling has become. We’ve got games on Wednesday’s, Friday’s, Saturday’s, Thursday’s, basically every day of the week outside of Tuesday at this point. Some games are on Amazon Prime, some games are on Netflix, some games are on The Cock (Peacock), some games are on WebTV, some games are on an actual network, and on and on it goes. I feel like John Coffey trying to keep up with what games are on when and on what service:

Give me back Sunday games, one Monday night game, and occasional Thursday night games once we get past Thanksgiving. That’s when it was perfect. I realize that the NFL is trying to dominate every day of the week, I know they have massive contracts now with these different streaming services, and I get that it’s all about keeping the money machine rolling. But they’re making these games so damn hard to keep track of, it’s starting to get irritating.
That said: I will watch every single game that I can this season. It’s like the conversation we had about the NCAA Tournament going to 76 teams. I hate it, but I’m going to watch all of those games. They know it, I know it, they know I know it, I know they know I know it. And that’s what’s allowing them to do what they’re doing. Until ratings go down, and TV contracts go down, and people start to lose money, it’s never going to change. They’re going to keep adding games, and streaming contracts, hell the NFL might find a way to add an extra day of the week just to cash in on it. Tutherday Football exclusively on HBO Max!
Anway, I’m sure there are plenty of fans that love that they’re going to get an NFL game on 75% of the days after September 8th. I’m just not one of them (again, I’ll watch).
PS: Entirely possible that I feel this way on May 14th, and then on November 25th I’ll be jacked up to watch the Packers and Rams as my wife and I engage in our usual Thanksgiving Eve tradition: The stretching of the stomach with massive amounts of Chinese food.
Double PS: “Entirely possible”=”Very likely.’
