Getting rid of stuff is a little less intimidating in Sheboygan, now that the Department of Public Works is returning Large Item Disposal Days for a second year. The large item disposal days are intended to help residents dispose of large waste items that aren’t going to be donated to friends or charity. The initial experience in 2025 proved popular enough to re-up the plan this year on the third Saturday of each month from May through October at the Municipal Services Building on New Jersey Avenue.
In order to operate the event, parking on the east side of 22nd Street between New Jersey Avenue and Evans Street will be prohibited beginning May 16th when a temporary “No Parking” order will be emplaced. Traffic will be directed to enter the event from the west using Virginia Avenue from South 22nd Street, and exit to the south on New Jersey Avenue. An I.D. proving City residency will be required, and DPW organizers are authorized to reject commercial loads, loads originating outside City limits, and any items not on the “Authorized” list published below.
Items Accepted:
Bagged or boxed trash
Household furniture
Mattresses and box springs
Toys, swings, etc.
Scrap metal
Miscellaneous junk
Items Not Accepted:

Construction materials (roofing, drywall, tiles, paint, etc.)
