The challenges of meeting last week’s vicious weather head-on were successfully met thanks to impressive community support. The Sheboygan County Warming Center said that during the period of January 16-24, a total of 429 overnight accommodations were given to provide a meal and a safe, warm place to shelter from extreme cold weather. The Community Cafe also served over 500 meals for lunch, and the launch of the Middle Ground daytime shelter at Hope Church was also a success.
Operators of the Shelters said that clothing, food, breakfast and hygiene supplies, coffee, and donated time from across Sheboygan County individuals, industries and businesses made a huge difference in the success of the shelters.
