The recent pattern of brief snow events with equally brief – but welcome – breaks in between is likely to change, as the last in a series of quick, simple systems moves through and is replaced by a slower, more complex one. The welcome break continues until late afternoon on Thursday, with the last of the brief events to follow.
The first wave is expected to arrive between 6 and 9 PM Thursday with untreated surfaces accumulating something around an inch of snow, with the main hazards being reduced visibility and slippery conditions. What follows may be more of a problem when the light, powdery snow is mostly replaced by freezing drizzle moving in late Thursday into early Friday.

The next event replaces Friday morning’s light snow and patchy freezing drizzle with a second wave of steady snow that should take over between 8 and 10 AM, accumulating another inch or so. Lingering light snow showers are then expected into Saturday.
With the exception of temperatures that may break the freezing mark on Friday, conditions are expected to be generally cold with single digits and teens at night, and teens to near 20 during the day.
