The City of Sheboygan is getting over $31 million from the state DNR’s Clean Water Fund Program. Part of an overall $484 million package, Sheboygan was among 82 municipalities selected for the current round of funding, and will use the money to construct an upgraded sewer interceptor on the south side.
An interceptor is a large underground pipe that receives output from many smaller lines and will serve as the main trunk line to the Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility. The addition, which has been in the works for nearly 4 years, will provide additional capacity needed to serve the growing south side and reduce long-term operational and maintenance expenses.
