While the Village of Cedar Grove prepares to hold its first Holland Festival since 2019, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is preparing to close access to the village for some major road construction.
The full project, which also includes the I-43 work now underway between Wilson-Lima Road and the south county line, is given the general time frame of “April 26, 2021 to August 2021” on the Department of Transportation’s project website, and involves a full 30-day closure of Highway 32 between Main Street in Cedar Grove and I-43. Work on 32 hasn’t begun yet, but there were questions about if construction might begin at just the wrong time for the village festival.
We checked with project manager Kyle Treml of the DOT, who assured us that this won’t be the case. He said that a letter and newsletter is being prepared for residents and businesses in Cedar Grove that will be affected by the closure, and a tentative start date of August 2nd is planned, at which time access will be closed. That leaves the village open for Holland Festival, which takes place July 23 – 24.
