Aaron Rodgers says he doesn’t view Sunday against the Packers as a “revenge game.”

“There’s no animosity toward the organization. Obviously I wish things had been better in our last year there.”
Rodgers said he saw the “writing on the wall” when the org drafted Jordan Love. pic.twitter.com/yRGBfxI6qo
“This is not a revenge game for me.” Sure. Sure, sure, sure.

Now look, do I think Rodgers probably had the Jets game to open the season highlighted and starred more than this upcoming matchup against Green Bay? Yes. Those two years with the Jets did not sound great (very surprising!), and the fact that Aaron Glenn made him fly out to New York in the offseason only to be told in two minutes that they didn’t want him as their quarterback probably chapped his ass.
So if he were to power rank ‘revenge games,’ my guess is the Jets would have been #1 on his list.
But, come on. You want me to believe that Aaron Charles Rodgers, a man/athlete/enigma that THRIVES on having a chip on his shoulder, isn’t going to play with a little extra sauce on Sunday night?? For sure not.
So he can shout out Chives and Piggly Wiggly and whatever he wants during the lead up to the game. But he knows, and I know, and you know, he wants this one on Sunday night. And while I think he still has a good relationship with Matt LaFleur and Jordan Love, one guy he doesn’t have a great relationship with is this dude right here:

That was well documented and the worst kept secret around 1265 during their time there together. They didn’t see eye to eye on player evaluation, Rodgers wanted more say in roster moves (Jake Kumerow) and Gutey didn’t want Jake Kumerow. They can play nice all they want this week but those two were rarely on the same page from 2018-2022.
Now I don’t think this Sunday’s game even comes close to reaching the level of Favre on the Vikings for those two matchups in 2009. I remember even as a fan that my emotions were churning for those two games. They felt like playoff games. Favre wanted to shove it up Thompson and McCarthy’s ass, Packer fans felt like Favre had turned his back on them, it was contentious. Especially in the game at Lambeau. This game doesn’t have that feel to it, but I don’t believe for a second that Rodgers is treating this like a normal matchup.
PS: I’ve never been to Chives but Rodgers shouts out that restaurant ALL the time when he’s talking about Green Bay. Is it a supper club? Is it as good as Mendy’s?
Double PS: ^Why don’t you google it?
