A house fire on Sheboygan’s far north side did substantial damage on Friday night.
Nine Sheboygan Fire Department units responded to the call a little before midnight, arriving within five minutes to find heavy smoke and flames from the rear of the structure on Pine Bluff Drive. Flames were quickly brought under control, allowing a search that indicated nobody home. However, two family dogs were rescued and reunited with their owners.
It took about three hours to complete operations and conduct an investigation, which has yet to reveal a cause. Both residents were displaced from the home, which sustained $150,000 damage.
Even though a cause wasn’t pinpointed, the SFD did include a reminder to keep dried flowers, cornstalks and other dry decorations away from open flames and heat sources.
