Mild temperatures and plenty of moisture resulted in a large area of fog this Thursday morning. The shroud blanketing the area showed up late overnight, and with temperatures cold enough in some areas a freezing fog advisory was issued, mainly for points along and north of a line from Lone Rock to Madison to Elkhart Lake. Still, there were a few slick spots overnight around here, and while temperatures will rise shortly after daybreak for those areas affected, fog and drizzle will remain a feature and a dense fog advisory was also issued until 9 a.m. for Washington and Ozaukee Counties along with points south and west.
Drivers are being advised to slow down, keep the lights on and allow extra space between vehicles for safety in the foggy weather. Once temperatures exceed the freezing mark, they should remain above freezing until early next week with light rain and drizzle common elements as 2024 draws to a close.
