The Village of Cedar Grove goes all-out this Friday and Saturday, celebrating its Dutch origins with the annual Holland Festival. It’s a rarity among Sheboygan County festivals in that it’s alcohol-free and entirely family-friendly.
The celebration features such unique events as today’s 3 p.m. opening featuring street-scrubbing and Klompen Dansing by young people dressed in traditional garb and wearing wooden shoes, which, by the way, you can rent for joining the wooden shoe races during the fest. Ethnic food like Ollie Bollen and Worstebrootje are among a flood of other food offerings you can consume while enjoying rides, music, an art fair, raffles and more. There’s a Holland Fest Walk / Run on Saturday morning, and following the street scrubbing at 1 p.m. Saturday is a huge parade winding through the village.
