With parades, parties, picnics and fireworks displays on the line, the National Weather Service has been busy trying to give the best advice for Independence Day revelers, and right now things look good for the first round of activity that gets underway today.
With celebrations like tonight’s Venetian Night Boat Parade getting an early start on the 4th, there’s no rain forecast and temperatures along the river and lakefront should be in the upper 70s, perfect for viewing the colorful display. And tomorrow begins with parade-time conditions of partly cloudy skies, light winds and temps in the 70s. But as the day goes on, forecasters say the chance of rain can’t be entirely ignored. Even then, chances are only around 10 percent by 4 p.m., and 25 percent during the evening. However, the risks associated with even a quick, isolated storm can include lightning and brief, strong winds and downpours.
For now, the best chance for that kind of activity exists in the overnight hours after 9 p.m. and on through most of Friday when we could collect another 3/4 of an inch of rain. After that – the weekend offers partly cloudy skies with daytime temps in the 70s and nights in the 60s, and the chance of rain limited to Sunday when you’ll want to once again keep up with the forecast.
