(Editors Notes: The original story included Farnsworth as a subject of Monday’s presentation; per the SASD administration, Monday’s presentation concerns only Urban Middle School. Traffic patterns at Farnsworth were not under consideration for purposes of this study.)
The results of a study that examined potential traffic impacts surrounding the proposed new Urban Middle School will be presented to the public on Monday. The study was done in response to questions about the effects of increased traffic should current plans go forward. Those plans address the intentions to replace Sheboygan’s Urban Middle School with a new building on Najacht and Mill Roads. Urban’s replacement is part of a proposal to replace it, and to partially rebuild and add to Farnsworth Middle School, both of which are nearly 100 years old. That’s made it necessary for the Sheboygan Area School District to address problems resulting from the aging and outdated facilities, and, in the case of Urban, the poor ground conditions at the site.
The traffic impact study, which was conducted by a Wisconsin DOT-certified engineer, will be presented by representatives from Traffic Analysis & Design, Inc., the independent firm from Cedarburg that was commissioned for the work. Representatives of Bray Architects which developed the design plans, and the Sheboygan Area School District, will also be in attendance. The meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 6th in the auditorium at Urban Middle School, with a Q&A session to follow the presentation.
