A senior at Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah High School was announced as one of 15 winners of $1,000 scholarships awarded through a contest offered by the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions.
Collin Zimmermann of Elkhart Lake was announced as a winner of the 2024 Money Smart Wisconsin Scholarship award. Zimmermann will receive a $1,000 contribution to a new or existing Edvest 529 account for his winning essay submission on how he plans to finance his higher education. 160 essays were submitted, and those were reviewed and scored by members of the Wisconsin Coalition on Student Debt based on criteria including identifying funding sources for higher education, and explaining how to manage student loan debt.
Wisconsin DFI Secretary Cheryll Olson-Collins said “We applaud these students for demonstrating sound money management skills, and we encourage them to continue building their financial literacy and capability skills as they continue their education.”
