A public hearing will take place at tonight’s Plymouth Common Council meeting to review options to either upgrade or remove the Mullet river Dam. The need to take action came with a notice from the Wisconsin DNR in 2015 that required the spillway capacity be brought into compliance of state standards within 10 years. The firm Ayers Associates was selected to do the study of options, which will be presented during a 5:30 p.m. open house and 6 p.m. Q&A session prior to tonight’s 7 p.m Common Council meeting.
Four options were developed in the Ayers Associates study, include achieving standards through the cheapest option, complete removal of the dam at an estimated $1.25 million, up through a $2.55 million option by installation of a new crest gate.
Tonight’s public hearing was scheduled after the mid-January storm cancelled the original date.
