Persons going to Lake Michigan beaches from Sheboygan County to the Illinois state line are being cautioned of potentially dangerous conditions on Saturday.
A Beach Hazards Statement is in effect from Saturday morning through late Saturday night for those areas as waves of 3 to 6 feet accompanied by dangerous currents are expected. The dangerous conditions will be the result of high waves and onshore winds that can create structural and longshore currents as well as possible rip currents. The most vulnerable beaches are Blue Harbor Beach in Sheboygan, North Beach in Port Washington, Atwater Beach in the Village of Shorewood, Windpoint Lighthouse Beach in Racine, and Simmons Island Beach in Kenosha.
People are being advised to stay out of the water and away from dangerous areas like piers and breakwalls until the dangerous conditions subside on Sunday.
