That was the postgame from Aaron Rodgers following the win against the Cowboys in early November. I played it on the air ad nauseum that entire week. Then they lost to the Titans, then they lost to the Eagles, and I was able to edit it perfectly to change the clip to, ‘but the biggest thing to remember is…..we’re dead.’
BUT, it may be time to bring back the original! Back to back wins and the playoff odds have been improving for three straight weeks. We’re not that drunk! We’re not that drunk!
Now look, I’m not going to go nuts about last night’s game. It wasn’t a masterpiece and the Rams are a BAD team by any measure. The Packers did what they had to do, they won (and covered). We’re going to find out MUCH more about how realistic this team’s playoff chances are when they play a very good Miami team on the road on Christmas Day. But last night’s win at least makes that game relevant which is all we could hope for when this team was 4-8 coming out of Thanksgiving week.
- I realize I’m a broken record here but: RUN THE DAMN BALL. They did, and you know what? It worked! Dillon had two touchdowns before he left the game, Aaron Jones had 90 yards on the ground and 36 yards in the short passing game. 126 yards on 21 touches and a touchdown. We’ll see if they stay consistent with it this weekend but the recipe for success on offense all year has been the law firm of Dillon and Jones. Give them the ball, that’s the call.
- Last night was the first time we saw Doubs and Watson on the field together since Watson’s breakout and their performance gives you even more optimism for the future. Doubs had 5 catches for 55 yards and some key first downs, Watson had 4/46 but drew at least three penalties and nearly had his 8th touchdown in the 4th quarter. He did also miss the Rodgers’ hand signal before that 3rd and goal late in the 4th quarter. Which led to the Rodgers comment of, ‘you want to score touchdowns, run the right routes’ in the postgame. Stuff like that is going to happen with rookies, but that looks like it’s going to be a dynamic 1-2 punch at receiver for years to come.
- Rasul, my man, did we learn NOTHING from the Patriots/Raiders game when it comes to laterals??
- I realize this Rams offense is pretty inept, but the defense performed admirably. Only gave up 146 total yards, had 5 sacks, 9 QB hits, and interception and a forced fumble. Again, we’ll see if they can to that against an explosive Miami team this weekend, but last night was one of the better defensive performances of the season.
- I know people will say Desmond Howard, but when was the last time you were actually excited about what could happen when the Packers field a kick or a punt? Allen Rossum? Will Blackmon? Even those names are a decade+ old. Well Keisean Nixon brings that electricity. It’s unfathomable that this guy was on the bench for half of the season while Amari Rodgers was a walking turnover.
- The Lambeau crowd barking when Marcedes Lewis caught a pass last night was *CHEF’S KISS*.
- Zach Tom held up really well at left tackle again, and Kingsley Enagbare looks like a 5th round STEAL. Gutey’s 2022 draft is shaping up to be his best.
- The Packers taking a knee at the 2-yard line when a touchdown would have hit the over on total points was the definition of the phrase ‘bad beat.’ I didn’t have it, but I do get sympathy pains when that happens to the over. Just brutal.
So, they did what they had to do. Beat a bad team at home to keep their playoff hopes alive. I truly believe that if this team gets to 9-8, they are getting in. But the difficulty setting on their schedule ramps up for the final three weeks. Hopefully they can get more help on Saturday from the Chiefs (against the Seahawks), Vikings (against the Giants), and Niners (against the Commanders). Then the Christmas Day game in Miami becomes a pivot point. If everything goes their way this weekend, there’s a strong chance we’re coming back on Monday with around a 50% chance to make the playoffs*.

PS: Hey shoutout to the Bucks as well on this Victory Tuesday. Quality road win against a really good Pelicans team on the road without Middleton. Giannis a casual 42/10 line, and Brook Lopez continued his push to be an All Star with 30 points, 7 boards, and two more blocks. Bucks were still relegated to TV #2 last night, but that was a really good win.
Double PS: 10/10 postgame interview:
Can I be honest about something? Are we in the trust tree? With the nest? It was kind of nice having Joe and Troy on the call again last night. It feels like they’ve called every single Packer game for the last 15 years, and even though a lot of the fan base despises them, it was sort of enjoyable to hear them again. They’re so hidden on Monday Night Football now it’s like they don’t even exist.
