First things first: It is a COCKY and HILARIOUS move for a defensive back to hand the football back to the quarterback after he picks him off. Maybe I missed it at some point during all of my years of watching NFL football, but the fact that Deion Sanders or Charles Woodson never did this is kind of shocking. It’s the perfect celebration. Amazing.
Second: As with all things Aaron Rodgers, this is a 90/10 reaction. 90% he’s having a good time with the kids and playfully throwing the ball at his back, 10% he’s actually pissed that a high school kid picked his pocket and it’s on film for everyone to see.
Third: Gutey has to at least see if there’s a way to sign this kid as a wide receiver, right? Soft hands, quick reaction time, wouldn’t be shocked one bit if he’s already on Mel Kiper’s 2026 Mock Draft 2.5.
Fourth: One of the all time SNL sketches:
PS: I got a text in this morning that asked me to, ‘shut up and play a song.’ But I had ANOTHER text that asked, ‘are the Packers going to trade for a receiver before the draft.’ I honestly have no idea what’s going on at 1265 as it relates to acquiring a veteran wide receiver at this point. Mark Murphy has been not-so-cryptically hinting that, ‘draft night could be kind of crazy,’ which would lead me to believe that they’ve got something in the works. Then again Mark Murphy seems like your uncle at Thanksgiving that is casually going to bring up a QAnon conspiracy after a few too many glasses of boxed merlot. I guess here’s where I’m at: The Packers don’t play a meaningful game of football for 4 months. And given the state of the NFC North, you could legitimately argue that they don’t play a meaningful game until January of 2023. It feels unlikely that we’re going to go with Lazard/Cobb/Rodgers and 2 rookies for the entire season. Maybe they make a move on draft night, maybe after, maybe they wait until the trade deadline in October. There’s a long time between now and when any of this really matters.
Double PS: I did play a song eventually. But because I wanted to. Not because someone told me to.
