145 new positive tests for COVID-19 were recorded by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health on Friday, raising the total case count so far to 19,359. With 82 recoveries since Thursday the active case number rose to a new 2021 high of 1,117, the most since 1,214 were recorded last December 23rd.
Three more persons were admitted for hospital treatment while seven were discharged, and the current patient population here is 28. 967 persons in all have needed hospitalization since the beginning of the pandemic.
Among the 31 hospitals in the Southeast Healthcare Emergency Readiness Coalition, which includes Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, Washington, Ozaukee, Waukesha, Milwaukee, Walworth, Racine and Kenosha Counties, 521 patients are being treated for the coronavirus, and available ICU beds are down to 17. Statewide, 1,457 are hospitalized and there are 41 ICU beds available.
Sheboygan County is experiencing a “high” level of community transmission. In the last 7 days 470.78 new cases were recorded per 100,000 population, down 3.4 from Thursday, while the percent of tests returning positive in the last week rose from 13.16% on Thursday to 14.21% on Friday.
57.9% of Sheboygan County residents have received at least 1 shot, 97 of those in the last day, raising the total to 66,757. 103 more persons completed their series, raising the total to 63,724, or 55.2% of the population.
