You know what? This might be too much. I love peanut butter as much as the next guy, I love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups more than just about any other candy on the market. One ‘candy bar’ for the rest of my life: The peanut butter cup is it, no contest.
But a Reese’s peanut butter cup covered in more peanut butter and not chocolate? We may have gone too far.
I do think you need the chocolate to make the whole flavor experience work. Without it, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but you might have peanut butter overload*.
With that on the table, I will be trying these without hesitation. Hell I may have to try anywhere between 8-10 cups in order to make an educated assessment. That’s just the scientific process at work. But my gut reaction just looking at the picture and reading about them, is that these aren’t going to be my favorite version of Reese’s of all time.
*10 year old me reading that sentence:
PS: One of the crazier things that our former afternoon girl, Jess Kelley, once said, was that she thinks she would enjoy the Reese’s peanut butter cup peanut butter as the peanut butter on an actual peanut butter sandwich. Like if you scrapped all of the chocolate off of a few peanut butter cups, and spread the peanut butter on a piece of bread, she’d enjoy that. I don’t know. I love Reese’s, but that peanut butter on it’s own is kind of grainy and salty. I think that’s the same reason I don’t think the peanut butter covered peanut butter cup will work. We never tested the sandwich hypothesis, but it did sound pretty gross.
Double PS: ^Not taking shots at her saying crazy things, I say plenty of crazy things from 6-10am Monday-Friday as well. Actually that’s how you get a job in radio. In the interview process they keep a tally of all of the random crazy things you say. The higher your total, the more likely they are to put you on the air. The more you know.
