SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Another Sheboygan County resident age 80 or older has lost their battle with COVID-19, becoming the 114th county victim of the ongoing pandemic. Of the deceased, one was between 10 and 19 years old, two were in their 30s, four in their 40s, five in their 50s, twenty were in their 60s, twenty-six were in their 70s and 56 were 80 or older.
Only 75 test returns were logged since Thursday, and 20% of them – 15 – came up positive. With 53 more recoveries, the active case count dropped 39 to 514, while hospitalizations rose two to 7. Daily hospitalizations this past week averaged 7.6, comparable to the rate on the week of August 31, 2020 according to data from the Sheboygan County Coronavirus Dashboard.
Wisconsin added 1,567 confirmed positive test returns for COVID-19, raising the running total cases to 539,915. 5,860 of those have lost their lives to the coronavirus, with 49 of those added today. 91 more persons were hospitalized statewide, and after accounting for discharges and deaths due to COVID-19, the patient population dropped by 40 to a total of 678. 185 of those are in ICU beds. Another 73 patients are awaiting their test returns while hospitalized, and 454 patients in all are on ventilators.
