A Shebyogan South high school senior is being honored as one of this year’s Milwaukee Bucks Perserverence Award winners.
Ryan Stephen was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in August of ‘24. He endured surgeries and multiple rounds of chemotherapy until May of last year, when he got to ring the bell at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, signaling the end of treatment. Despite the grueling medical treatments, Ryan fought back and made his way back to the basketball court and onto the baseball field, excelling to the point where has committed to play baseball at at UW-Stevens Point next year. Ryan’s award comes with a $1000 scholarship that can either be used towards college expenses or donated to the high school program of his choice.
