Reconstruction of I-43 in Sheboygan County begins today, and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation says that we’ll likely be dealing with that until after Halloween. The project to replace deteriorated pavement, maintain structures, grade slopes and replace signs will begin with clearing of trees and right-of-way fencing, and that should have minimal impacts on traffic. However that’s only going to last around two weeks, and long-term lane closures will begin around the middle of this month and last until July.
From July through November intermittent lane closures will be employed during non-peak times except for the Highway “PP” overpass. That will experience long-term lane closures from July through September. The most disruptive may be at the I-43 / Highway 23 interchange in July and August when the north and southbound collector and distributor ramps undergo bridge work for 35 days.
Weather permitting, the project could wrap up by Halloween, but early November may still see the official completion date.
