Fond du Lac County authorities are trying to determine what started a fire inside a camper that took the life of one person on Sunday.
Five persons were in a camper at the Breezy Hill Campground about five miles south of the City of Fond du Lac when it caught fire just before 11 AM Sunday. An adult man and three children were able to escape the camper, however Sheriff’s Deputies and Eden firefighters responding to the scene were told that a 35-year-old woman was inside with the fire still underway.
Crews quickly brought the fire under control, but they weren’t able to safe the woman who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The man and three children were treated for non-life-threatening injuries they sustained in the fire and the Red Cross was called in to assist them.
Although the exact cause isn’t known, the fire appears to have originated in the kitchen area of the camper.
